Feeding America
Recipients – Needy and under-privileged people in your area
One-in-eight Americans are either homeless or cannot put adequate nutritional food on their tables.
Feeding America is a national organization with local branches and chapters throughout the U.S. with a mission to ensure that nobody should go without a meal.
How you can help
Feeding America’s website http://feedingamerica.org/take-action/donate.aspx lists a number of ways for you to get involved, including;
Donation of food or funds
Food items can be donated at any local food-bank. Details are available at http://feedingamerica.org
Funding donations are a great way to help, because every dollar donated will buy 8 pounds of food, thanks to support from food manufacturers and retailers.
In 2010, BAPRM has donated $750 – the equivalent of 3250 meals - to the food bank in Alameda.
Volunteer
With so many meals to prepare and mouths to feed, Feeding America food-banks in your area always need volunteers to help with food preparation and serving and other duties. To find a food-bank in your area, click here http://feedingamerica.org/take-action/volunteer/volunteermatch.aspx
You can do this anytime, so next time you have some spare time, think about helping out those in your local community.
