Susan G. Komen 5km team run/walk – 26 September 2010 - Embarcadero
Recipient – Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Most of us have been touched by cancer, either directly or through a family member, friend or colleague. Nearly 200,000 women in the U.S. are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Men are also subject to breast cancer, though incidents are significantly lower in men than in women.
The Komen Foundation raises funding for cancer research, increasing public awareness, and helping victims to fight and recover from this devastating disease.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, with well over one million participants each year. The 2010 Run for the Cure is on Sunday 26 September, and will celebrate the 20th anniversary of this wonderful event.
How you can help
Dust-off those sneakers! Break-out the lycra shorts! Start a comfortable training program. September will be here before you know it….
BAPRM has entered a team of members and friends to participate in the 2010 Susan G. Komen 5km run/walk in San Francisco on Sunday 26 September 2010.
Participants will benefit from knowing they are helping a fantastic cause – plus they will hopefully enjoy the benefits from a little exercise! Runners and walkers are encouraged to obtain sponsorships and donations, which can be easily managed on BAPRM’s Team Page. Non-participants (ie couch-potatoes) can also support the BAPRM team and the Komen Foundation by making a tax-deductable donation on our Team Page.
